This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-style drawing by layering two sets of alternating horizontal and vertical bars, each clipped by a mask. The masks are generated from a sequence of large symbolic paths and checkered rectangles, using D3’s `scaleBand`, `range`, and `symbol` APIs. The code builds an SVG scene sized to the browser window with 120 divisions, setting fills to white or black based on an inverted parity rule. The rendering is purely procedural, driven by D3 7.6.1, with no external data source.

Fork of Full Fork of Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction with D3_final

Two alternating sets of thin rectangles and masked symbol shapes form an abstract, geometric composition reminiscent of Sol LeWitt's wall drawings. The code uses D3 v7 with `select`, `range`, and `symbol` to append SVG rectangles whose positions and dimensions alternate between horizontal and vertical lines. A mask, built via `append('mask')`, overlays diamond and square symbols from `d3.symbols`, with alternating black and white fills that reveal or hide the underlying grid. The result is a dynamic interplay of line, shape, and contrast driven by parity-based logic.

Fork of Fork of full Sol LeWitt Reproduction with D3

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-inspired geometric composition using D3 v7 with SVG rendering, layering horizontal and vertical striped rectangles over masked symbol shapes. The code generates 50 horizontal and vertical bars positioned incrementally, then applies two masks—one containing a row of D3 symbols (circles, crosses, diamonds, etc.) and another with a large central triangle. The masks alternate inverted fills, creating intersecting cutout effects where the stripes show through the symbol shapes. The visualization updates dynamically to the browser window dimensions, demonstrating D3’s `range`, `symbol`, and `join` methods for procedural art.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction with D3

This example recreates a Sol LeWitt art piece using D3, generating a series of horizontal bars that are clipped by a circular mask. The visualization fills the entire browser window with alternating offset rectangles, creating a geometric pattern. The code uses D3's `select` and `range` functions to build SVG elements, though the mask and circle logic is present but commented out. The rendered output shows a grid of colored bands restricted to a central circular area.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction with D3

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-style geometric composition using D3.js, generating an intricate grid of overlapping horizontal and vertical bars. The visualization uses two mask layers to create alternating colored regions, with the second mask inverted to produce a dynamic contrast pattern. Rendered as SVG, the code employs D3's `scaleBand`, `range`, `symbol`, and `symbols` APIs to position and shape the elements, while `join` manages the data-driven rect and path creation. Layout adapts to the browser window size, with 120 bands across the full viewport.

Fork of Fork of Full Sol LeWitt reproduction with D3

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt art piece using D3 v7 and SVG. It generates two sets of striped rectangles—horizontal and vertical—layered over each other. The code applies two complementary SVG masks, each containing a row of D3 symbol shapes, to selectively reveal or hide parts of the grid. The masks are created programmatically with the `renderMask` function, which uses `d3.range`, `d3.symbol`, and `d3.symbols` to position the mask shapes across the canvas. The final result creates an intricate, textured interplay between the geometric lines and the symbol cutouts.

Fork of Full Sol LeWitt Reproduction with d3

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-style grid of black horizontal and vertical bars, using d3-selection, d3-range, and d3-symbol to generate rectangular stripes overlaid with circular and triangular mask shapes. The SVG rendering creates 100 vertical and 100 horizontal rectangles, each masked by a different pattern of d3 symbols, producing a layered geometric composition. The two masks alternate inverted fills to control which stripes remain visible, resulting in a dynamic interplay of line and shape across the full window.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction with D3 Method 1

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-inspired generative drawing as a full-screen SVG. It displays two sets of overlaid horizontal and vertical stripes, which are masked to reveal circular voids at the center. The artwork is built with D3 methods including `d3.select`, `d3.range`, and the `.join()` operator to create and position 100 rectangles in each direction. Two SVG masks (`circle-mask` and `circle-mask-2`) control which parts of the stripes remain visible, creating the interplay of lines and empty space.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction with D3_test

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-inspired geometric artwork using D3.js. It renders a grid of thin, alternating horizontal and vertical lines by combining SVG `rect` elements with two custom masks, creating an intersecting pattern that visually shifts between the two orientations. The JavaScript code uses D3 APIs such as `select`, `range`, `symbol`, `scaleBand`, and the `join` method to generate the 120-line structure. Each mask cycles through symbols from D3’s symbol set to alternate black and white fill, producing the final composed effect. The SVG output is sized to the full browser window.
