This word cloud visualizes the frequency of words in two classic texts, "The Three Wishes" and "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," after removing stopwords. The size of each word corresponds to its occurrence count, with colors assigned from a categorical scale. Built with D3.js, it uses the `d3.layout.cloud` API to arrange words and renders them as SVG `<text>` elements. An animation reveals the words over time as the layout algorithm places them.

Word Cloud

This visualization displays a word cloud of the text "The Adventures of Aladdin," showing the frequency of significant words through font size, with color and 90-degree rotation providing additional visual variety. The word cloud layout algorithm by Jason Davies, based on Jonathan Feinberg’s spiral placement method, is implemented using the d3.layout.cloud API. Words are placed using an Archimedean spiral until the canvas is filled, with the cloud rendered as SVG text elements. The underlying word counts are computed from the provided story text, filtering out stopwords, and the animation steps through word placement iteratively.

Word Cloud

This word cloud uses D3’s `d3.layout.cloud` to position words by frequency, with font size scaled by each term’s count. The layout runs inside a force simulation, and the rendering draws the words onto an SVG canvas using `d3.select` and `text` elements. The visualization reads a local JSON dataset of words and counts, then animates the cloud’s appearance with a smooth rotation and fade-in transition. Colors are applied from a categorical palette to differentiate word groups, while the overall layout adapts to the container’s size.

Word Cloud-3

This example displays a word cloud visualization using the d3.layout.cloud plugin, which arranges words from a TSV data file based on their frequency values. The code filters the dataset, maps each entry to a text-size pair, and uses the cloud layout with custom rotation, padding, and the Impact font. Words are rendered as SVG text elements with colors from a category20c scale, appearing animated as the layout algorithm places them across a 500×500 canvas area.

Word Cloud

A word cloud visualizes a hardcoded list of words (e.g., “Hello,” “Coding,” “Van”) from `words.js` and `data.csv`. The layout uses the `d3.layout.cloud` library, which employs an Archimedean spiral and collision detection to position words. Rendered as SVG and canvas, the words appear in steelblue with a text-anchor, and the animation (via `timeInterval` and `dispatch`) progressively places each term. The `index.js` code uses canvas `getImageData` for font metrics and a bitmask board for collision checks.

Word Cloud-3

This visualization displays a word cloud built from frequency data in a TSV file, using font size to encode the magnitude of each term. The words are rendered as SVG text elements with random rotations and a categorical color scale. The layout is computed with the `d3.layout.cloud` plugin, which uses a collision detection algorithm to place words without overlapping. Data is loaded via `d3.tsv` and processed with array methods before the cloud is drawn and animated by the plugin’s step function.

Word Cloud Example

This example presents a word cloud visualization that arranges text tags by frequency, with larger words representing higher values in the input data. The layout algorithm, based on Jason Davies’s implementation, places words using an Archimedean spiral to avoid collisions. The code uses the `d3.layout.cloud` API with `.size()`, `.padding()`, `.rotate()`, and `.font()` configurations. After layout, the `d3.select("body").append("svg")` chain renders the results, applying font size and family via inline styles, with animated placement driven by the `setInterval` timer in the cloud layout process.

Word Cloud-3

This word cloud visualizes the frequency of terms from a CSV/TSV dataset, with word size proportional to their numerical `frequency` values. It uses the Jason Davies `d3.layout.cloud.js` library to calculate word placements within a 800x500 space, applying random rotations and the "Impact" font. The visualization renders words as SVG `<text>` elements, with colors assigned from the `d3.scale.category20c()` palette and triggered via `d3.tsv()` data loading.

Word Cloud

This interactive word cloud visualizes the frequency of family and first names from JSON datasets, allowing users to switch between them via toolbar buttons. D3 v3 and the d3.layout.cloud plugin render the most frequent terms as SVG text elements, with font size scaled linearly by occurrence count and colors assigned from a category scale. The layout uses the cloud algorithm to position non-overlapping words with random horizontal or vertical rotation before drawing them via SVG.
