Hey there, fruity!

Bowl of fruit - general update pattern

Five apples appear as red circles in an SVG, arranged horizontally above a bowl. Following a timed script, the visualization removes an apple, changes an apple to a yellow lemon, and removes another, demonstrating D3’s general update pattern. The code uses `selection.selectAll`, `.enter()`, `.merge()`, and `.exit()` with a `transition().duration(1000)` to animate radius and x-position changes, while `scaleOrdinal` maps fruit types to colors and sizes.

Hey there, fruity nesty!

A fruit bowl holds five apples rendered as SVG circles, which shrink as apples are eaten and transform one apple into a lemon over time. The example uses d3-v5 with `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius mapping, and demonstrates data joins via `selection.merge` and exit/remove patterns. State changes trigger re-renders through `fruitBowl`, showing how nested groups animate position and size for each fruit type.

Fruit bowl to be

Five apples appear in a row, then one disappears after a second, and one apple turns yellow to become a lemon. The example demonstrates basic D3.js data joins with `selection.selectAll`, `enter`, and `exit` methods, using `scaleOrdinal` for color mapping. It renders SVG circles sized by a fixed radius, with transitions triggered by `setTimeout` calls that modify the underlying `fruits` array before re-rendering.

Bowl of fruit!

Five apples are displayed as red circles with labels, arranged horizontally across the screen. After one second, the last fruit is removed; a moment later, the third apple changes to a yellow lemon with a smaller radius. The example uses d3-selection with data joins to bind an array of fruit objects to SVG groups, circles, and text elements. The `scaleOrdinal` function maps fruit types to color and radius values, while `setTimeout` calls trigger the sequential updates.

Five apples animate into view as red circles, then sequentially demonstrate D3 data joins: one apple disappears, another turns into a yellow lemon, and a third is removed. The example uses `d3.select` and `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius, with `selection.enter`, `merge`, and `exit` to manage updates. Transitions via `transition.duration` and `attr` animate the changes over one-second intervals, rendering static SVG circles that reshape and recolor in place.

Bowl of Fruit - Click to Select

Five apples render as red circles in an SVG bowl, with yellow lemon circles appearing when an apple’s type changes. Hovering toggles a black stroke on the selected fruit, while timed updates remove and replace circles. The code uses `d3.scaleOrdinal` for colors, radii, and stroke states, with `selection.merge` and `transition.attr` animating enter, update, and exit circles. Data is generated randomly via `Math.random`, and interactions trigger `onClick` callbacks.

About fruits

Five apples render in an SVG bowl, then update through timed data joins: one apple disappears, another becomes a lemon, and a third is removed. The fruit bowl chart uses d3-selection’s `enter` and `merge` methods to bind fruit objects to groups containing circles and text labels. `d3.scaleOrdinal` maps fruit types to colors and radii, with the code drawing from d3.v5.
