A cartoon face is rendered as a composition of reusable React components, including a yellow background circle, two eyes, and a mouth. The SVG is centered using a group transformation, with the mouth drawn using the `arc()` generator from d3. The example demonstrates splitting React components into separate ES6 module files, and uses React Fragments to group the eye circles without adding extra DOM nodes.

Face Part V

A cheerful cartoon face renders as SVG from React components. The example splits the visualization into separate files for the background circle, eyes, and mouth, using ES6 modules and React fragments to organize the code. The mouth's arc shape is generated with the `d3.arc` API, while the background and eyes are simple SVG circles. The face is centered on a yellow circle with a black stroke, and the eyes and mouth are positioned relative to the center using SVG transforms.

Let's Make a Face Part VI (Compartmentalizing Complexity)

A yellow face with black outlines, black eyes, and an arched mouth is drawn as a reusable React component composed of smaller subcomponents. The code structures the visualization by splitting the face into separate modules for the background circle, eyes, mouth, and an SVG container. It uses `d3.arc` to generate the mouth path and React fragments to group the eyes without extra DOM nodes. The final composition is rendered via `ReactDOM.render` into an SVG.

6.00 Lets Make a Face Part 6 (Compartmentalizing Complexity)

A smiling face is drawn as a yellow circle with eyes and an arc-shaped mouth, rendered as SVG. The face is composed of React components that compartmentalize the design into separate `Face`, `FaceCircle`, `Eyes`, and `Mouth` parts, with `Smily` assembling them. The code uses React 17 and D3 6 APIs, including D3’s `arc()` to generate the mouth path. The face is centered in a 960 by 500 viewport, with dimensions and offsets passed as props.

Let's Make a Face Part I

This example renders eighteen identical cartoon faces in a grid using React components, each composed of a yellow background circle, two black eyes, and a curved mouth. The faces are generated from an array created with `d3.range`, and each face is drawn as SVG elements within a transformed group. The mouth shape is computed using the `d3.arc` API, with inner and outer radii and angular start and end points defining its curve. React’s component-based structure, including `FaceContainer`, `BackgroundCircle`, `Eyes`, and `Mouth`, demonstrates a modular approach to building and repeating SVG visualizations.

Let's Make a Face Part VI (Compartmentalizing Complexity)

A grid of 15 faces, each with randomized facial features, demonstrates how React components can be broken into modular files. Each face uses a yellow background circle, two eyes, and an arc-based mouth, with positions and sizes varying per instance. The code splits rendering into separate components like `FaceContainer`, `BackgroundCircle`, `Eyes`, and `Mouth`, using React fragments and ES6 modules. It leverages ReactDOM to render the SVG faces, while the `arc` API from d3 generates the mouth paths.

Let's make a face part 4

This example builds a cartoon face from modular React components, showing a yellow circle with two eyes and a curved mouth on a black stroke. The face is assembled from separate SVG elements—BackgroundCircle, Eyes, and Mouth—within a FaceContainer that centers the drawing. The mouth uses D3’s `arc` generator to create a path with specified inner radius, width, and angle range. The code sets fixed dimensions and styling via React props, with all geometry defined in SVG coordinates. The face is rendered statically at 960 by 500 pixels, with no interaction or animation.

Face part IV, React components

A React component renders a stylized face using SVG, with a yellow-to-red gradient background circle, two white eyes with black pupils, and a smile drawn with a d3.arc path. The face is centered in a 960x500 viewport, with drop shadows and stroke filters applied via SVG defs. React 16.10 manages the component hierarchy, while D3 v5 provides the arc generator for the mouth shape, demonstrating hybrid SVG and D3 integration within a React application.

Let's Make a Face Part V

This example renders a stylized cartoon face composed of SVG primitives, featuring a yellow circular background, two dark eyes, and a smiling mouth. The face is built using React components that wrap SVG elements: `BackgroundCircle`, `Eyes`, and `Mouth`. The mouth shape is generated with D3’s `arc` generator, applying inner and outer radii with start and end angles to create a semi-circular curve. All facial features are positioned relative to a central group transform, ensuring the composition stays centered in the viewport.
