This archived example displays the raw contents of a CSV file containing the classic Iris dataset, showing parsed tabular data as formatted JSON in a `<pre>` element. It demonstrates lazy-loading and state management with D3 v7, using `d3.csvParse` to convert fetched text into an array of objects, then coercing numeric columns with unary plus operators. The visualization is minimal, focusing on the data-loading pipeline rather than a graphical representation, with a state machine tracking undefined, `'LOADING'`, and loaded data states.

COVID-19 Place of Death CSV Data

This example displays basic metadata about a COVID-19 place-of-death CSV dataset, showing file size in kilobytes, row count, and column count as large text. It loads the remote CSV using d3.csv, then computes the formatted size with d3.csvFormat, while also counting rows and columns from the parsed array. The code includes commented alternatives using fetch, async/await, and d3.csvParse for the same task. The visualization is minimal, focusing on data-loading mechanics rather than graphical output, with the source data fetched from a GitHub gist.

CSV Dataset Template - Covid

This example provides a bare-bones template for importing and parsing a COVID-19 dataset from the New York Times, which tracks daily cases and deaths by U.S. state. It shows the structure of the parsed data by rendering the first record as a JSON object in a `<pre>` element. The code loads the CSV with an import statement, converts the `cases`, `deaths`, and `fips` fields to numbers, and then displays the first data point. The visualization is minimal, focusing on data loading and parsing rather than chart rendering.

Fork of Loading and Parsing COVID data

This visualization displays the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the United States, aggregated from the latest date in a time-series dataset supplied by the CSSE at Johns Hopkins University. It shows a single large text value that updates dynamically based on the data. The code uses the D3 library (d3.csv) to fetch and parse the CSV file, then applies a reduce function with a sum accumulator to calculate the total. A comma formatter from d3.format displays the result within a pre element.

Loading and Parsing Coronavirus Data

This visualization demonstrates how to load and parse the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Dataset, displaying basic file statistics in a large preformatted text element. It fetches the global deaths time series CSV via `d3.csv`, then computes the data size in kilobytes using `d3.csvFormat`, and counts the rows and columns from the parsed array and its `data.columns` property. The final message shows the latest date column, total file size, row count, and column count, all rendered into the DOM via `textContent`. The example highlights D3’s Promise-based data loading and inspection of CSV metadata.

NY Car Crashes Loading Data

This example demonstrates asynchronous data loading in D3 v7. It fetches a CSV file containing 500 records from NYC OpenData’s Motor Vehicle Collisions – Vehicles dataset, filtered to sedans. The visualization initially shows a loading state, then parses the CSV with `d3.csvParse` and converts the UNIQUE_ID field to numeric values using a `for` loop. The processed data is stored in a state object and displayed as a JSON-formatted text preview inside a `<pre>` element via `d3.select` and `.text()`.

Fork of Fork of Loading and Parsing CORONAVIRUS

This example displays a text summary of COVID-19 global death data parsed from a CSV file hosted by the CSSE at Johns Hopkins. It uses `d3.csv` to fetch and parse the time-series data, then computes the total deaths from the latest date column using JavaScript’s `reduce`. The displayed message includes file size, row and column counts, the final date, and the formatted death total via `d3.format`. The results are rendered inside a styled `<pre>` element, with the code running in a React-based build using D3 v5.

Loading and Parsing COVID data

This example displays the total number of COVID-19 deaths worldwide as a large text readout, along with the most recent date of the data. It loads a CSV file from the CSSE GitHub repository using d3.csv, extracts the latest date column, and sums all values with a reduce function. The formatted total uses d3.format to add comma separators, and the result is injected into an HTML pre element via the DOM. The visualization relies on D3 v5’s data loading and formatting APIs.

Loading and Parsing Coronavirus Data

This example demonstrates loading a global COVID-19 death time-series dataset using D3 v5. It fetches a CSV file from the Johns Hopkins CSSE GitHub repository and parses it with `d3.csv`. The visualization displays a large-text summary showing the data’s size in kilobytes, the number of rows, and the number of columns, computed via `d3.csvFormat` and the parsed array’s properties. It relies on the native `fetch` API and a promise handler, with commented alternatives using `async`/`await` and nested callbacks.
