This example shows a simplified map of Japan, rendered as an aquamarine SVG path with black outlines. A slider controls the level of simplification, removing smaller geographic details in real time as the threshold increases. The visualization uses D3 v4's `d3.geoMercator` projection, `d3.geoPath`, and `d3.geoTransform` with TopoJSON's `presimplify` to filter points based on their triangular area. The map data comes from a remote TopoJSON file of Japan, and the canvas resizes dynamically with the window.

Fork of Japan Country

This example visualizes the Japan country shape as an interactive SVG map, where a slider controls the level of terrain simplification by filtering out triangular areas below a threshold. The map redraws dynamically on slider input and window resize, using topojson.presimplify to precompute simplification weights and d3.geoTransform with d3.geoPath to project only points meeting the threshold. The code loads geographic data from a remote TopoJSON file and applies a Mercator projection via d3.geoMercator, rendering the result as green-filled paths with black strokes.

Fork of Japan Country

This interactive map displays a simplified, green-colored rendering of Japan with yellow borders. A slider controls the level of topographic simplification, filtering out smaller details as the threshold increases. Built with D3.js v4 and TopoJSON, the visualization uses a custom `d3.geoTransform` pipeline to convert GeoJSON features into SVG paths. The `presimplify` function and a user-adjustable threshold dynamically alter the geometry’s complexity, with the map redrawing on input or window resize using the `d3.geoPath` projection. Data originates from a remote TopoJSON file hosted on GitHub.

Country-Japan

This example visualizes a simplified map of Japan using a Mercator projection. A slider controls the level of topological simplification, filtering out geographic features based on a triangle-area threshold computed with `topojson.presimplify`. The map is rendered as an SVG path using `d3.geoPath` with a custom `d3.geoTransform` stream that converts simplified coordinates to pixel positions via `projection.fitExtent`. The code redraws the map on slider input and window resize events.

Japan Country

This example displays a map of Japan rendered as SVG paths, with a slider controlling the level of topographic simplification. The visualization uses a TopoJSON dataset of Japan, which is converted to GeoJSON via `topojson.feature` and then processed with `topojson.presimplify` to compute area-based simplification weights. A `d3.geoTransform` custom stream applies a threshold filter, and `d3.geoPath` projects the filtered coordinates using a Mercator projection fitted to the viewport. The slider triggers redraws that dynamically show coarser or finer terrain detail, with a header reading “Japan Map.”

Fork of Japan Map

This example displays a map of Japan rendered as SVG paths, with each geographic region filled in a solid color and outlined by white borders. The visualization uses a Mercator projection configured with `d3.geoMercator` and applies a zoom behavior via `d3.zoom` to enable interactive panning and scaling. Geographic data is loaded as TopoJSON from a remote GitHub source and converted to GeoJSON using the `feature` function from `topojson`. Color encoding relies on `d3.scaleOrdinal` with `schemeCategory10`, though the code fetches a Greece dataset, so the map’s actual region boundaries may not match the title.

Fork of Japan Map

This example visualizes Japan’s administrative boundaries using a Mercator projection rendered as SVG paths. The map displays prefecture outlines in pink with black strokes, colored via d3.scaleOrdinal and schemeCategory10, and supports pan and zoom through d3.zoom. Data is loaded via d3.json from a TopoJSON file, converted to GeoJSON with topojson.feature, and drawn using d3.geoPath. The code imports d3 modules for selection, projections, scales, and event handling, while d3-geo-projection.v2 is included for additional projection support.

Japan Country

This map of Japan renders land areas as aquamarine shapes with black outlines, using a Mercator projection. The visualization uses topojson data fetched from a GitHub gist, with TopoJSON APIs (`topojson.presimplify`, `topojson.feature`) for simplification and conversion to GeoJSON. It applies D3’s `d3.geoTransform` to filter polygon details based on a threshold, which is adjustable via a range slider, and draws paths with `d3.geoPath` onto an SVG canvas. The map redraws dynamically when the slider changes or the window resizes.

Fork of Japan Map

This example displays a map of Japan with its administrative level-1 regions rendered as beige SVG paths with black borders. The visualization uses a geoMercator projection with clipExtent and scale settings to focus the map. Users can pan and zoom interactively through d3.zoom, which applies transforms to the grouped map elements. The code loads geographic data from a remote JSON file and processes it with topojson.feature to extract state boundaries, then renders them using d3.geoPath.
