This example displays the text “fitch” in massive, 13em type that nearly fills the browser window, centered against a white background. It loads a CSV file containing CSS color names and values from a GitHub gist, then logs a summary of the dataset to the console, including the formatted file size in kilobytes, row count, and column count. The code uses D3 v6’s `d3.csv` and `d3.csvFormat` to fetch and measure the data, while the page layout relies on plain CSS.

fecth

This example demonstrates loading and parsing CSV data from a remote URL, displaying the file size in kilobytes, row count, and column count. The implementation uses the Fetch API with async/await to retrieve the text, then d3.csvParse to convert it into structured data. The d3.csv method appears in commented-out code as an alternative approach. The interface renders the summary statistics in a large monospace font within a pre element. The data source is a JSON file containing named colors, fetched via d3 v5.

Fork of Fork of Loading and Parsing CSV Data

This example displays a text summary of the CSS Named Colors CSV file, showing its size in kilobytes, row count, and column count. The page uses d3.csv to fetch and parse the remote gist data, then d3.csvFormat to measure its length. The code also demonstrates alternative approaches with fetch, async/await, and d3.csvParse, though they remain commented out. The D3 v5 library handles the data loading, while a plain HTML `<pre>` element renders the resulting message in large type.

Fork of HTML Starter

This example displays a minimalist text summary of the CSS named colors dataset, showing the file size in kilobytes, row count, and column count in a large monospaced font. It loads the CSV from a GitHub gist using d3.csv, then formats and calculates the dataset’s properties with d3.csvFormat and string length. The resulting message is injected into a pre element via textContent. The code also includes commented-out alternatives using fetch and d3.csvParse, highlighting the primary approach with D3’s promise-based CSV handling.

CSS Colors

This example loads a CSV of CSS named colors from a GitHub gist and displays summary statistics about the dataset: its size in kilobytes, row count, and column count. The page uses D3 v7’s `d3.csv` to fetch and parse the data, then `d3.csvFormat` to calculate the file size from the formatted string. Results are rendered as plain text into a pre element via `textContent`, with the body styled at a large font size for readability. The code also includes commented-out alternatives using the Fetch API.

csv

This example loads a CSV file of CSS named colors and displays a summary of its contents, including the number of rows, columns, and file size in kilobytes. The data is fetched asynchronously using D3’s `csv` function from a GitHub gist URL, then processed in a React component with `useState` and `useEffect`. The output renders as large text via a `<pre>` element, showing the static info derived from the parsed dataset.

Making Fetch Happen

This example displays a short text summary of a CSS named colors dataset, showing the file size in kilobytes, row count, and column count. It uses D3’s `d3.csv` to fetch and parse the CSV from a GitHub gist, then builds the message with `d3.csvFormat` and updates the DOM via `textContent`. A commented alternative demonstrates fetching raw text with `fetch` and parsing it using `d3.csvParse`.

FCC - Tut parsing Data

This example displays a large-format text report summarizing a CSV dataset of CSS named colors. It shows the file size in kilobytes, the number of rows, and the number of columns as static text. The code loads the data using `d3.csv` and formats it with `d3.csvFormat` to measure its length, also reading `data.length` and `data.columns.length` for the summary. An alternative commented approach uses the `fetch` API with `async`/`await` and `d3.csvParse` to achieve the same result.

CSV data

This example fetches a CSV file of named CSS coordinate data and parses it using `d3.csvParse`, then displays a summary of the file’s size, row count, and column count in large text on a blank page. The visualization communicates basic dataset dimensions rather than plotting values, with output rendered into a `pre` element via `document.getElementById`. It uses the Fetch API with an async `fetchText` helper and relies on D3 v7 for parsing, styled by a font-size of 7em in CSS. The data comes from a GitHub gist.
