A minimalist SVG template demonstrates a blank canvas with a pink background, rendered by an HTML page that loads D3 v5 and a bundled JavaScript file. The code selects the `<svg>` element and sets its background color via the `select` function, while also extracting its height and width attributes as numeric values for future layout calculations. No data or chart elements are drawn; the example focuses on establishing the basic structure and styling hooks for a D3 project, with CSS applied for a full-bleed page layout.

Marcus' D3 set pink background #1

This example demonstrates a minimal web page that renders an SVG element with a solid pink background. The visualization is created using the D3.js library (version 5) to select the SVG canvas and apply the background color through the `d3.select` API, accessed via the `select` import. The HTML structure defines the SVG with fixed dimensions, while the bundled JavaScript script (`bundle.js`) executes the color styling. The accompanying stylesheet removes default page margins, ensuring the colored SVG fills the viewport without visual interruption.

A minimal HTML starter template renders an empty SVG canvas sized 960 by 500 pixels, providing a blank slate for D3.js visualizations. The page loads D3 v5 from a CDN and an external stylesheet that removes body margins and hides overflow, while a separate `bundle.js` script would handle any custom drawing logic. The example demonstrates the essential file structure for a D3 project, with the SVG element ready to receive graphical content.

This example shows a minimal HTML page setup for a D3 visualization, displaying a single empty SVG canvas ready for content. The code defines a basic file structure with an HTML page, a linked stylesheet, and a JavaScript bundle that selects the SVG element and appends a circle with a radius of 20 pixels, though no data is loaded. It uses `d3.select` from D3 v5 to manipulate the SVG. The visualization serves as a bare-bones starter template, demonstrating the core setup of an HTML page with D3 for future projects, with no existing data or complex rendering logic.

This example demonstrates an empty SVG canvas sized 960 by 500 pixels, providing a minimal starting point for data visualization projects. The code imports D3’s `select` and `arc` functions within a React framework, though the visible rendering relies on a static `<svg>` element. D3 version 5 is loaded via CDN, with JavaScript bundled and executed from a separate `bundle.js` file. The visualization does not display any data or shapes, serving only as a clean template for future D3-based graphics.

This starter template demonstrates the minimum setup for a D3.js project, loading the library from a CDN and wiring it to an SVG canvas. The code selects a fixed 960-by-500-pixel SVG with `d3.select` and immediately changes its background to red via the `style` method, serving as a trivial visual confirmation that the D3 bindings are functional. It uses the D3 v5 API alongside a linked external stylesheet, and the example focuses on establishing the core HTML, script, and SVG structure common to more complex visualizations.

This example displays a blank SVG canvas with a solid purple background. It serves as a minimal setup for starting an HTML-based D3 visualization project. The code creates an SVG element with specified dimensions and uses d3.select to reference it, then applies the background color through the style method. The page loads D3 version 4 from a CDN and includes a React starter alternative for comparison.

HTML Starter

This example shows a minimal SVG canvas that occupies the full page but renders no visible data or shapes; it demonstrates the simplest possible setup for an HTML page with a blank SVG element. The code relies on a basic HTML structure with inline CSS for centering and font sizing, and it imports the `select` function from the D3 library in JavaScript, though no D3 operations are applied. This starter serves as a foundational template for adding interactive visualizations later.

This example shows a minimal HTML page with a red SVG canvas, demonstrating the simplest possible setup for a D3.js visualization. The page includes a static "Hello HTML" text and an empty SVG element, which is styled with a red background using `d3.select` and `svg.style`. It loads D3 v5 from a CDN and contains a `main.js` file that selects the SVG and applies the background color. This serves as a bare starter template for building more complex visualizations, with no data or interactive behavior implemented.
